If you’re reading this and interested in the program, we want you to apply! You don’t have to be majoring in a science or have experience doing field work. The most important prerequisite for participation in the Gulf of California Program is enthusiasm for working and learning outdoors.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. You must be a current Stanford Undergraduate at the time of application and for the duration of the program.
  2. You must maintain Satisfactory academic progress. Read more about Academic Progress(ORIGINAL LINK - https://exploredegrees.stanford.edu/academicpoliciesandstatements/#acad…);
  3. You cannot be on suspension due to Community Standards, Academic Suspension, or Dean’s Leave at the time of application or for the duration of the program. Students on academic probation or provisional registration status require the endorsement their Undergraduate Advising Director and the Wrigley Program Directors.
  4. You must have a valid passport

To determine an applicant’s qualifications, standing at the University, and readiness to participate in the program, the Oceans department may consult the following offices:

·         Dean of Students Office

·         Office of Residential Education

·         Office of Accessible Education

·         Academic Advising

·         Office of Community Standards

·         SHARE Title IX Office

·         Vaden Health Center/Counseling and Psychological Services

NOTE: Vaden will not share confidential health information with the department, but may identify a concern with an applicant’s readiness to participate, to be further addressed directly with the applicant.

Students with Documented Disabilities Students who need an academic accommodation based on the impact of a disability must initiate the request with the Office of Accessible Education (OAE). Professional staff will evaluate the request with required documentation, recommend reasonable accommodations, and prepare an Accommodation Letter for faculty dated in the current quarter in which the request is being made. Students should contact the OAE as soon as possible since timely notice is needed to coordinate accommodations. The OAE is located at 563 Salvatierra Walk (phone: 723-1066).

The Oceans Department reserves the right to revoke admission at any point prior to the program should there be any changes to a student’s qualifications, standing at the University, and readiness to participate in the program. The department will notify the student should there be any concerns, or if the student is no longer eligible to participate in the program.
